Welcome to The White Hart
Looking for somewhere to stay?
The White Hart has 18 beautifully designed en-suite rooms, including a fabulous honeymoon suite! It’s the perfect place to stay for an overnight business trip, weekend away or special celebration.
Many of our rooms are located within the main building, but we’ve also converted the old stables into luxury accommodation. Each room has been individually designed and no two are the same, so why would we resort to giving them mere numbers – ours have names!
All rooms are non-smoking and come with the following as standard: tea/coffee making, hairdryer, flatscreen television, WiFi. And if you’re feeling a little crumpled, we’ll even give you an iron and ironing board.
Standard rooms are from £90 per night and Superior rooms are £125 per night and include a delicious breakfast served from 7am (8am on weekends) in the restaurant.
Call us on 01491 641245 to find out more or make a reservation now.
Good food is our speciality
OUR SUNDAY CARVERY
Put on your Sunday best (or come as you are, we don’t mind) and enjoy.
We serve a fantastic selection of carvery meats, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puds and roast potatoes.
Child’s portion £7.00
Fresh ingredients, quality produce, cooked with expert care and attention – that’s what we’re about. Everything is freshly prepared and we like to keep things seasonal, so the vegetables and fruit we use always vary. It just makes eating so much more interesting.
Take a look at our menus and you’ll see the influence of many different cuisines, along with our South African roots; discover the great taste of a boerie (South African farmer’s sausage) or be adventurous and order your steak with monkey gland sauce (it doesn’t actually contain any monkey parts, we promise!).
All our meat is carefully sourced and we only choose the very best. Eating steak at The White Hart is an experience: step up to the butcher’s counter, choose whichever cut you fancy, tell us how big or small you want it and how you like it cooked – it’s a personal service!
Join us for a light lunch or treat yourself to dinner out after a hard day’s work. Or just come and spend a lazy Sunday afternoon with us and sample our Carvery – Sunday lunch with all the trimmings and no washing up afterwards. It’s something that we do really, really well and our customers think so too. Many of them have made a Sunday visit to The White Hart as habitual as buying the Sunday papers – they’ve been coming here for years! For the food, for the friendly service, for the relaxed atmosphere – what could be better!
And what we want to do most is put a smile on your face when you eat at The White Hart.
Go on, book a table or call us on 01491 641245 to find out more.

Around and about Nettlebed
Nettlebed’s origins date back to ancient times, and its location – where the Henley-Oxford road crosses the Chiltern Ridgeway – ensured it became an important staging post. Today, The White Hart is the last remaining inn in the village.
The area was well known for pottery and tile manufacture, along with brickmaking. An 18th-century kiln still survives and provides an historic focal point in the village.
Famous residents include the Fleming family who fist moved to Nettlebed in 1903. The renowned travel writer Peter Fleming, brother of James Bond creator Ian Fleming, is buried in Nettlebed churchyard, along with his wife, the actress Celia Johnson who starred in the classic British Film ‘Brief Encounter'.
Set against the dramatic beauty of the Chiltern Hills, Nettlebed is an ideal centre for exploring the surrounding area. The White Hart provides an ideal starting point for walkers and ramblers, where you can fortify yourself before setting out – or why not reward yourself with a hearty meal at the end of your walk.
Nettlebed is also an ideal location if you’re staying for longer. With the famous royal regatta town of Henley on your doorstep, the historic market towns of Wallingford and Abingdon nearby, and Oxford, Ascot and Windsor within easy driving distance, there is plenty to see and do. So why not stay at The White Hart and enjoy some good food and a good night’s sleep or two.
